Green Rating Systems

LEED Platinum certified on Nov. 7, 2008!
The project utilized the LEED for Homes rating system to help guide the renovation design and selection of products and systems. "LEED for Homes is a rating
system that promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes. A green home uses less energy, water and
natural resources; creates less waste; and is healthier and more comfortable for the occupants. Benefits of a LEED home include
lower energy and water bills; reduced greenhouse gas emissions; and less exposure to mold, mildew and other indoor toxins."
The project's small size contributed to lowering the LEED award level
threshold by the maximum of 10 points. The resulting bar for a Platinum award level is 80 points. The green renovation was
certified by USGBC at 106.5 points for the project (26.5 points over the Platinum threshold level). This allowed the home
to become the 1st LEED Platinum in Northern California and the highest rated in the country.
